The last mile is the hard mile

Every parcel network in the country can move freight between cities. What breaks is the last twenty miles.

A trailer crossing three states is a solved problem. A residential street at seven in the evening is not. The last stretch is where the address turns out to be wrong, the business has already locked its doors, the parcel needs a second attempt tomorrow, and the driver who was supposed to run the route did not show up this morning. Everything a network promises its customers is either kept or lost there.

That stretch is the whole of our business. OnRoute Express is a light-vehicle carrier — no tractor-trailers, no line-haul, no side ventures. Every morning our contract drivers load out at one of three metro points, take an assigned route of 120 to 150 stops, and close the day out: business addresses by five, residential by nine at the latest, Monday through Sunday.

It is a narrow business and we keep it narrow deliberately. Four things below say how we run it, who runs it, and how big we actually are — all of it checkable before you call us.

The only part of the chain we touch
The residential street, the closed business, the driver who didn't show — that is where a parcel network breaks, and it is the one stretch we work on. We do nothing else, and we have no ambition to.
Three metros, one clock
OnRoute Express runs daily parcel routes out of three metro load-out points in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. One load-out every morning at nine. Between 120 and 150 stops on each route. Business addresses closed out by five, residential by nine at the latest. Monday through Sunday, without a different clock for weekends.
Density and retention are the same problem
That schedule holds because of how we staff it. Routes are run by independent contractors engaged on Form 1099, each driving a vehicle they own — recruited locally, dispatched in their own language, and paid every Friday. A driver who knows the route, the stop count and the settlement date before the week starts is a driver who is still there in month six.
The size we are
We are a small carrier and we do not pitch ourselves as anything else. We hold interstate operating authority, we run zero reportable crashes and no out-of-service orders, and all of it is public and checkable in FMCSA SAFER. We will tell you plainly what we can and cannot cover.

What We Offer

In service

Last-Mile Parcel Delivery

Daily last-mile parcel routes run under contract to a national parcel network. Parcels are staged at a metro load-out point and go out on assigned routes the same morning — same crews, same clock, every day of the week. It is the one thing we do, and we do it carefully.

  • 9:00 AM load-out, daily
  • 120–150 stops per route
  • Business addresses by 17:00
  • Seven days a week

DriveHub — Last-Mile Platform

Our own platform for running a last-mile operation: driver recruiting, onboarding, route administration and contractor records in one place. Built around how a small carrier actually works. In development now, and used first on our own routes.

Driver Recruitment

We take a driver from the first call to the first route: paperwork, onboarding, route assignment and dispatch in your own language. You bring a vehicle and a licence — we handle the rest, and you know the route and the pay before you start.

  • Onboarding start to first route
  • Weekly settlement
  • Assigned route, known stop count
  • English or Russian dispatch

Light Vehicles Only

Every route is run by an independent contractor in a vehicle they own, and every one of those vehicles is rated under 10,001 lbs GVWR. We operate no tractor-trailers and we do not present ourselves as a long-haul carrier.

Minivans

The typical route vehicle. Room for 120-plus parcels with the seats down, and easy to work out of on a residential street.

Cargo Vans

More cube for dense routes. Same vehicle class and the same weight rating — nothing here needs a commercial licence.

Large SUVs

Accepted where the route volume fits. All under 10,001 lbs GVWR, like everything else on the road for us.

Where We Run

Three metro load-out points in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Our operating authority is interstate; our operation is these three metros, and we do not claim otherwise.
